Dar Al Bartal                                                                                                                      4 Lantern - Luxury

Riad al Bartal has just 6 large rooms, each leading from the main central plant-filled courtyard. The decor respects traditional Moroccan architecture: vast cedarwood doors, high ceilings, shimmering zellige tiling and sitting areas with either a fireplace or ceramic wood stove are featured in all. Some have a four-poster plus room for an extra bed; the largest suite, Sefarine, has two bedrooms sleeping up to four people. En suite tadelakt bathrooms have a monsoon shower or bath tub (Sefarine has an amazing copper tanning vat as a bath). All are air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter.

Despite the gastronomic reputation
 of their homeland, the Laroches
 maintain ties to their adopted
country by employing local cooks
and crew in the kitchen. In fact, the relationship with their employees
is obviously one of respect on both
sides, not always the case in
 French-owned riads!
